TYPO3 is a content management system

TYPO3 is a content management system. I think I've been using it for about 10 years. I've grown to like it (and hate it at times). But I've grown familiar with it. It interested me when I learned about it for a few reasons. I liked the page tree in the back end. A heirarcical page tree, just like you'd have on a static web site made of files and a folder structure. And I liked typoscript. I didn't understand it first, but I liked the possibilities it offered and the ability to customize my web site without messing around withe PHP files. PHP seemed for programming, not for configuration. And last but not least, I liked all the granularity with permissions and the amount of control TYPO3 gave me over every aspect of my web site.
