Marriage is idoltry. That's right, I said it.

Not for everyone, but for many I think that marriage is put on a pedastal as an ideal, an idol in a sense. It's praised and those who marry are exhalted in a way.

Think I'm alone in believing that marriage has become an idol. Take a look around at what some others have said about it...

Faith culture has made marriage the end-all, be-all, and it’s not healthy.

Desiring Marriage Isn’t Bad, But Don’t Fall Into Idolatry

You'll notice that some of those links have a Christian slant to them. That's probably because Christianity is against idoltry (or at least we are told it is but Christians have made an idol out of Jesus).

Also, I don't think marriage is necessarily bad. Heck, I even tried marriage once. But I think that a lot of marriages today are not that great. For many, I think it's become an idol.
