F.lux is a cool innovative app for those dudes who worship the computer screen and are used to spending a lot of late nights glued to their monitors. It is easy to spot them in the crowd with their burned out eyes!!

The reason for this is that computer screens are too bright for the sensitivity of our eyes especially during the night which sometimes equates to looking at the sun when the surroundings are pitch black.

Flux remedies this by adjusting the color values of the computer screen so as to match the natural light conditions of the surroundings. It calculates the color values from the latitude of your current position. Although the screen does look rather odd while F.lux is running you can immediately feel the lack of the usual strain in your eyes.

Installing F.lux on Ubuntu

sudo add-apt-repository ppa:kilian/f.lux
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install fluxgui

This is one of those apps that was really needed and that rare one which remains visible while staying invisible. Also, it's available for Mac and Windows too. Thanks to Michael Herf and team for bringing out this super cool piece of code.Check it out at F.lux.
