I don't like the idea of using Facebook or Disqus comments on a web site. They have very nice comment solutions, but I'm interested in a commenting application that gives me control of the comments data. There are several solutions that look interesting for those who want an open source or similar comment solution. One that really stands out is Talk from the Mozillia foundation.

The Coral Project - Talk

The Coral Project from Mozillia is a set of "Open-source tools that make journalism better".

Talk is a commenting solution for web site owners. Like the rest of the project it is open source, contains no trackers, and allows publishers to own their users' comment data.

Publishers using Talk include The Washington Postthe Wall Street JournalThe InterceptIGN, and several local newsrooms including Register-GuardAnchorage Daily News, and the Voice of San Diego.

Talk and the Coral Project look like promising solutions from a well known organization.
