Pour Salt on a plate

Pour some salt onto a plate.

This is a simple michelada recipe that you can make with some common ingredients that you can find in a regular grocery store or in your home.

Ingredients

The only ingredients you need are:

And optionally, you can add:

  • Chili powder

Procedure

Basically, you'll just stir together the following ingredients:

  • Juice of one lime
  • Worcestershire sauce to taste
  • Hot sauce to taste
  • Chili powder or other spices (optional)

Then add beer.

Detailed Procedure

Wet the rim of a glass with a slice of lime

Cut a small slice out of your lime and use it to wet the rim of a glass.

Here I used an ice cold pint glass straight from the freezer.

Dip the glass into the salt

With the rim of the glass wet from the lime juice, dip it into the plate of salt.

Turning the glass when it's on the plate seems to help get more salt on it.

Add juice of one lime

Add the juice of the remaining lime into the glass. I didn't have a proper lime squeezer so I just cut the lime into quarters and squeezed each lime quarter individually into the glass.

Add Worchestershire sauce to taste

I used about four shakes of Worchestershire sauce.

Add Hot Sauce to taste

I'm using Valentina hot sauce here. I used about 6 shakes of it.

Optionally, add chili powder (or other spices)

I put about 2 shakes of chili powder in my michelada. It helped add the extra kick that I didn't feel I was getting from the hot sauce.

You could also add other spices like black pepper or onion powder. Add whatever you want. I'm sure whatever you come up with will taste great.

Stir well

Stir all of the ingredients thoroughly.

Add beer

Pour the bottle of beer into the glass and enjoy!

That's about all there is to make a basic michelada drink using ingredients you may already have in your kitchen.

This is a very tasty, savory drink and you may enjoy it as it is, or you may consider this michelada recipe a starting point to add other ingredients such as more spices or tomato or clamato juice. There are many ways to personalize the michelada to your liking
