It's the end of June and my surviving Heritage Rasberry plant stands at under a foot tall. I don't know if this is to be expected or not.

A google search has led me to believe that I'm not alone in wondering how long it will take my Heritage Rasberries to grow big and to produce fruit.

A forum post at the garden web forum has led me to believe that I shouldn't expect many, if any, rasberries for the first year. I understand that some root development must occur before the raspberry plant will produce good canes, good enough to grow rasberries.

So, it looks like I might have to wait until next year to get a good crop of rasberries.

Until then, I think I'll plant a couple more heritage raspberry plants to replace the ones that died, and to allow for a bigger raspberry crop next year.
