About 45 days ago I was hosted at FSCKVPS on a $20 openVZ based VPS server. That was until FSCKVPS' big hacking exploit fiasco, which left a lot of sites high and dry including mine.

I frantically searched for a new unmanaged VPS hosting provider in the $20 per month price range. I was happy to find an offer at Web hosting talk by a company called 2host that was offering a XEN VPS with 2 GB of RAM for $20 a month. I signed up, and I've been quite pleased with them.

The Zen VPS came equipped with 2 GB of RAM and 40 GB of webspace. It is an unmanaged VPS, which I have installed Webmin on, and the uptime on this particular server has been great (there's been no downtime).

I noticed that Zen VPS'es generally cost more than openVZ based VPS'es. So I was surprised that I was getting about same amount of resources as I did when I was paying $20 for my VPS at FSCKVPS.

And the thing I like about it most is that I have 2 GB of guaranteed RAM, not burst RAM, as was the case with the openVZ based VPS I had from FSCKVPS.

My VPS from 2host is located in St. Louis and the server speed and bandwidth are very good.

When I signed up for 2host.com I also signed up for a couple of other VPS providers just try them out. And, the benchmarking tests I have done, most notably the Apache benchmarking tool, have been outstanding and have proven to me that 2host beats it's similarly priced competition.

I will happily recommend 2host.com for anybody looking for a low cost and reliable XEN based Linux VPS.
