Just to give you some background, my video card is an NVIDIA GeForce 6150SE nForce 430 powering an Acer AL2416W LCD monitor.
The problem started today when I allowed Windows Vista to download and install some updates.I haven't run Windows in months because I've been using mainly Linux so there were lots of updates.
So what happened after the updates was this; I rebooted my computer my display settings were set to 1600 x 1200.
I checked the display properties for my car and even the NVIDIA control panel, but the maximum resolution that either program would allow remained at 1600 x 1200.
I was very fortunate when I searched Google as I didn't have to filter through many results before finding the solution to this display adapter problem.
I'll give you the solution in a nutshell.
If it worked, you'll now be able to go past 1600 x 1200 and you'll have 1920 x 1200 available as a resolution in Display Properties.
