There are many people who would like a way to keep one window above all others on their Windows 10 computers. Mac and Linux users regularly enjoy such a feature.

Surprisingly Windows doesn't have a built in way to put one window above all others.

There are several third party programs that have come out that allow you to pin a window above others, but most of them require pressing a hotkey, or they require clicking something in the system tray first.

For those who want an easier, more straightforward way of putting one window on top of others, try out WindowTop. WindowTop is a freemium program that in its free version allows you to keep windows above others. A paid version offers many more features.

The download of WindowTop comes with an installable version of the software and also a portable version. I installed WindowTop on my computer. When prompted I gave the program to start automatically with Windows 10.

The process for putting a window on top is simple.

When you hover your mouse over the title bar of a window, a small arrow icon appears in the middle of the title bar. Clicking on the arrow icon brings up a menu and all you do is click the option that is labled "Set Top".

There are other features such as changing the opacity of windows, but I am only interested in a way to keep windows on top of other windows, and this application does that well. I'm happy to have found it.
